Brendan Rodgers branded departing Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard "irreplaceable" following his farewell appearance at Anfield.
The 34-year-old captained the Reds at the club's iconic stadium for the final time during their defeat to Crystal Palace.
Despite the disappointing result, Gerrard was given a heroes send off by supporters and boss Rodgers reserved special praise for his skipper.
"Steven is a player and a person who is irreplaceable in terms of what he has given over his time here," Rodgers said.

"The standards he has set have been second to none. We now go forward at the end of the season without him and try to find a way to improve. That's our challenge."
Gerrard will join LA Galaxy upon leaving Liverpool, but the possibility of him returning to the club on loan has already been mentioned.
However, the ex-England skipper says he would only come back if the club desperately needed him.
Video - Gerrard's emotional goodbye:
Gerrard told Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker: "I wanted to say goodbye in a proper way - the only way I'd ever come back would be an emergency situation, but I hope I'm not needed come the winter."
Gerrard has also been tipped to become Liverpool manager when he hangs up his boots and revealed it is something he is working towards.

"You have to be good enough," he added. "This is a big club and can be brutal at times.
"I'm trying to go through the coaching badges and it's a bridge I will cross in a couple of years."
